TIPS: hold true for..． 是有用短语，意思是“合适于……”。rarely 是否定副词，意思是“很少地、不常地”，类似的否定副词还有hardly （几乎不）、seldom（很少）、scarcely（极少）、never（从不）等。

People, regardless of age, gender and background, + come to value constant learning.

无论是什么样的年龄、性别还是背景，人们都开始重视不断地学习。

TIPS: regardless of 是常见短语，其后接名词、代词或者动名词，意思是“不管、不顾、不理会”。再如，We worked all day regardless of the cold weather． 尽管天气冷，我们还是工作了一整天。

Only by continually gaining new knowledge can we + shake off stale ideas and expand our thinking power.

TIPS: Only by doing sth. can we..． 是表示强调的句型，意思是“只有通过做某事我们才能够……”。only 修饰的副词、介词短语或从句位于句首时，主句须部分倒装。Only in this way can we solve the problem． 只有这样，我们才能解决问题。

No one can afford to + stop learning.

没有人能承受得起不学习而带来的后果。

TIPS: afford 是常用动词，意为“买得起、负担得起、经得住”。通常有afford sth．和afford to do sth．的用法。如I can afford a car．我负担得起一辆小汽车。这句话也可以表达为：I can afford to buy a car.

It is wise of you to + consider education as a lifelong process.

教育是个终身的过程，你这样认为是明智的。

TIPS: It is wise of you to do sth． 是常见句型，意思是“你做某事是明智的”，其中It 是形式主语。

It is necessary for you to + learn a foreign language.

学习一门外语对你是非常重要的。

TIPS: It is necessary for you to do sth．是表达必要性的常见句型，意思是“你做某事是必要的”，其中的It也是形式主语。注意It is+adj.+ of sb. to do sth．与It is adj.+for sb. to do sth．的区别在于：前者中的adj．是修饰人的，而后者中的adj．是形容to do sth．的。

It might be time to + take a step back and examine your goals.

或许到了你该停下来重新审视你的目标是否合适的时候了。

TIPS: It might be time to do sth． 是表示个人看法的句型，意思是“或许到了干某事的时候了”。

I absolutely agree that + we should focus on the bright side of life.

我完全同意我们应该关注生活中光明的一面。

TIPS: I absolutely agree that..． 是表示个人观点的常用句型，其后接从句，意思是“我完全同意……”。

TIPS: suggest 表建议时，其后的从句要用虚拟语气，即should do,这里should可以省略。再如：He suggested that we （should） start off early the next day． 他建议次日我们早点出发。
